Privacy Policy

Overview

Spatial Browsing Map ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension developed by AyoubCoder. This Privacy Policy describes how the Extension handles information when you use it.

The core principle of this Extension is simple: your data belongs to you, and it never leaves your machine. The Extension is designed to function entirely locally, with no dependency on external servers or cloud infrastructure.

Data We Collect

The Extension collects the following information solely to build your visual browsing map, and stores it locally on your device:

This data is only collected while recording is enabled. You can pause or stop recording at any time using the toolbar button.

How Data Is Used

All collected data is used exclusively for one purpose: rendering your interactive browsing tree map within the Extension's interface.

• URLs and titles are used to label nodes on your map
• Navigation events determine the connections (edges) between nodes
• Tab identifiers help correctly assign pages to tree branches
• Timestamps power session analytics like browsing depth and activity patterns
• Session data lets you organize and export your browsing sessions

The Extension does not use this data for advertising, profiling, monetization, or any purpose beyond building your local map.

Data Storage & Retention

All data is stored locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API. This storage is private to the Extension and is not accessible by websites, other extensions, or any third party.

Data persists until you manually delete it — either by clearing individual sessions inside the Extension, or by uninstalling the Extension entirely. Uninstalling will remove all stored data from your device.

Permissions Explained

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions. Each permission is used only for the stated purpose and nothing else:

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not share, sell, rent, transfer, or disclose your data to any third party under any circumstances. This includes:

• No analytics or telemetry services
• No advertising networks
• No cloud storage providers
• No data brokers
• No government or law enforcement agencies (we have no data to provide)

Because all data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted, it is technically impossible for us to share it — we simply never have access to it.

Export Feature

The Extension includes an Export feature that lets you download your session data as a JSON file. This export is initiated entirely by you and is saved directly to your local device. The exported file is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone automatically.

What you choose to do with your exported JSON file is entirely your own decision and responsibility.

Children's Privacy

This Extension does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. The Extension stores data locally and does not transmit any data externally, making it structurally incapable of collecting or processing children's data on a remote server. If you are a parent or guardian with concerns, you can review and delete all stored data directly from the Extension's interface or by uninstalling it.

Your Rights & Controls

Because all data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control over it at all times:

• Pause recording — stop data collection at any moment using the toolbar button
• Delete sessions — remove any session and its data from within the Extension
• Export your data — download any session as a JSON file
• Full deletion — uninstalling the Extension removes all stored data from your device permanently

Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy is updated in the future, the new version will be published alongside any Extension update in the Chrome Web Store. Continued use of the Extension after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

We commit to never introducing practices that would reduce the privacy protections described here — any changes will maintain or improve user privacy.
